Weltall-Id is a Gear piloted by Id in Xenogears.
Description[edit]
When Weltall wields the maximum output of its generator, it becomes known as Weltall-Id. A replica of Alpha Weltall, it was constructed under Grahf's direction who have the original ability to wield the same incredible generator power as the original Gear. Its body hardness has very few weaknesses. Because of the great abrasive loss during its highest output in Gear battles, the frame itself becomes subject to loss by attrition and after battle it disappears to parts unknown, becoming dormant. The generator power can rise to such a degree that cooling becomes an issue. As it is a replica of Alpha Weltall, the emitted heat is not comparable to that from a standard Gear. At the time of self-recovery, the measure of its output is more than 99%. Unlike Alpha Weltall it can recycle energy, although cooling is a problem. As such a new magnetic refrigeration system was loaded in it, enables rapid cooling of the machine.
Analysis[edit]
The extremely powerful red Gear that appears at various points during the game is in fact a transformed version of Weltall. When controlled by Id, Weltall's maximum level of power is unleashed, causing its transformation into Weltall-Id. The Gear was provided to him by Grahf and remains in a weaker state when piloted by Fei. Weltall-Id was used in suppressing the uprising in Elru, causing that country's destruction. Id uses it to cause mass destruction at various points in the game including destroying Lahan Village, wreaking havoc at the Aveh - Kislev border and even destroying Solaris. After Weltall suffers major damage in a battle against Ramsus' Omnigear Vendetta, Taura provides Fei a manner to suppress Id using nanomachines. This is also applied to the upgraded Weltall 2, which while having a System Id mode, does not have a full transformation into Weltall-Id. After Elly becomes Miang, Fei's personality becomes dormant and Id is able to take over, transforming the Gear once more into Weltall-Id. He is encountered by the party at Bethlehem in the Gear's final appearance.
