Heimdal is a Gear piloted by Citan Uzuki in Xenogears.

Description[edit]

Heimdal was a Gear that was originally designed and made during the war 500 years ago. It was a custom made every day use Gear at the time. It was excavated at the same time as Brigandier, separated into 8 base parts, and originally thought to be the same type of machine. It soon became clear that the exterior frame and avionics were of an entirely different type. Using Brigandier for reference, it was planned to strengthen the ray weapons and sensors. From this point on it was planned for Heimdal to be used for distance battles against the leaders of enemy groups. Because of renovations by the Yggdrasil staff, the output was maxed out and a new radical machine was made that no ordinary person could handle. It had to wait for the arrival of Citan to have a lively enough pilot. Similar to Brigandier, its body has the ability for plenty of output and it is an all purpose Gear for use in many battle situations.

Analysis[edit]

A Gear kept within the Pirate's Hideout, Citan started piloting it when the Hideout needed to be protected by Gebler. It was a powerful Gear that the pirates were unable to find a pilot for before Citan took a hold of it. Using it he was able to fight off the Gebler forces and he uses it as his Gear for much of the game. On disc 2, Citan reveals that he has an omnigear, Fenrir, which he has kept in Solaris. Fenrir is a totally separate Gear not related to Heimdal, which Citan temporarily abandons. After Fenrir's Anima Relic is absorbed by Deus in Merkava, Citan returns to using the Heimdal on a temporary basis, although now uses it with a sword. Heimdal is then abandoned again after Taura is able to reconstruct Fenrir using nanomachines and technology discovered via Xenogears.
