Achtzehn is a Gear piloted by Nikolai Balthasar in Xenogears.
Description[edit]
In its outer appearance, Achtzehn looks similar to Seibzehn, although its self use mainframe is the first to adopt the usage of a human brain. Similar to Calamity, it was mean for self-propelling in flight mode. It is a powerful test Gear. Its outer surface is equipped with material similar to large vessels, like Seibzehn. It has an extreme attack with the rifle on its arm which acts as a gravity cannon. It is referred to as a fully automatic Gear.
Story[edit]
Achtzehn is a Gear developed by Maria's father Nikolai during his captivity in Solaris. It is a continuation of research that resulted in the creation of Maria's Gear, Seibzehn and was developed with the goal of integrating the human brain with a Gear so as to have simultaneous reaction time between the pilot and the Gear. It leads an invasion of Shevat by Solaris' forces and soon Nikolai's voice starts coming out of it. Maria is initially hesitant to take on her father, but after Chu-Chu takes it on she heads out personally to fight it. Nikolai is pleased to see his daughter and acts as if he has been reborn as Achtzehn, wanting her to follow a similar path. However Seibzehn rejects this and it is revealed that Nikolai had a secret message installed within the Gear to respond to Seibzehn if they encountered each other. All his data is transferred to Seibzehn, which then on its own uses its Graviton Cannon to vaporize Achtzehn.
