Alkanshel is a Gear piloted by Bishop Stone in Xenogears.
Description[edit]
Alkanshel was a Gear designed to be the main force in the oceanic region. Possibly to keep it active for a long time, it navigates the surface of the ocean like it were another ocean going vessel. However it can achieve flight if needed during battle The system where it can burn this kind of fuel is short. It has defensive jammers emitted from the claws at the end of each arm that send a magnetic wave to the enemy and render them immobile 100% of the time. The result of Gebler technology, the Gear was developed initially by Hyuga (Citan), with the sealed cannon brought on by Stone.
Analysis[edit]
Stored in the Ethos Headquarters, the Alkanshel is taken by Stone when he flees from the party after the leaders of the Ethos are assassinated. Stone uses the Gear to head to the Ethos Digsite and recover the nanomachine colony Emeralda for Krelian. After this is done, Stone attacks the Yggdrasil directly. Krelian has fused him to his Gear and all the skin has been removed from his face. As the battle begins, Grahf appears and provides more power to the Gear. As the party initially fights the Gear, an invisible barrier protects it from any harm. However through the usage of the Buntline Gear piloted by Jessie, the barrier is destroyed and the Gear is defeated.
The Gear is called Archangel in the Japanese version of the game and was mistranslated in the North American release.
