Gebler is a military organization from Xenogears. A subsidiary organization of Solaris, it is involved in controlling the activities of the surface and in the current day is assisting Aveh in its war against Kislev.

History and purpose[edit]

Gebler is one of two organizations established by Solaris to help in controlling the surface dwellers. After the war 500 years ago, Emperor Cain and the other rulers of Solaris determined direct control of the surface would be difficult, so they chose to utilize indirect control instead. An Imperial Special Foreign Bureau was established, which over time became two separate organizations, Gebler and the Ethos. The purpose of Gebler was the direct use of military power on the surface. Initially, Gebler would be utilized at the Ethos' demand but eventually they stopped receiving orders in this fashion and the organizations were fully split from each other.

Organizational structure and members[edit]

In the present day, Ramsus is the head commander of Gebler. His primary objective is the supervision of the surface, including quelling any rebellions. His near reconnaissance corps are the Elements, which currently are made up of Dominia, Kelvena, Seraphita and Tolone. Miang acts as the director of the Advisement Board of Gebler, the central organization that issues commands. Miang is responsible for making military plans and submitting them to Headquarters. There is also an Interior Department which provides strategy and the implementation of excavated lost technology, known as the Relic Bureau. Jugend is the officer training school within Gebler and was attended by many different characters prior to the events of the game.

Originally Gebler had four military divisions named after the elements Water, Fire, Earth and Wind. The Wind Division was destroyed as part of the quelling of Elru and only exists in printed form today.

Other members of Gebler seen during the game include Elly, Vanderkaum and the five members of the Gebler Special Forces.
