Memory Space is an area in Xenoblade Chronicles. It is the last area in the game. Saving or opening the map here is impossible.

Geography[edit]

Memory Space is a void filled with stars and planets generated by Alvis that is formed by Zanza's memories of the universe prior to its destruction caused by Klaus' experiment. Memory Space spans four different astronomical bodies, Jupiter, Mars, the Moon, and Saturn. Each of these astronomical bodies can be reached via teleporters connected by thin red lines.

After the party enters Memory Space via the portal on Prison Island, they see Earth, and they are welcomed by Alvis, who causes a giant flash that absorbs the entire area and transforms it into a colourful vortex known as the Sentient Genesis. After Shulk defeats Zanza in the Sentient Genesis, Alvis brings him close to Earth, and Shulk sees a ring surrounding Earth that is connected to a space station, which is where Klaus' experiment occurred.

Story[edit]

Xenoblade Chronicles[edit]

After defeating Dickson on Prison Island, the party enters a portal and finds themselves inside a void filled with stars and planets completely unfamiliar to them. In the starry void, the party battles against the spirits of their past foes. Eventually, the party comes across what seems to be a ball of water, and the voice of Alvis welcomes Shulk. Suddenly, a bright flash appears and engulfs everything. The party then finds themselves inside the Sentient Genesis and they see Zanza.

The party battles against Zanza and is able to defeat him. After this, Alvis shows Shulk the beginning of the world; in a space station above the ball of water, revealed to be a planet called Earth, a man known as Klaus triggered an event that caused the destruction of the universe and the creation of a new one. Alvis reveals that Memory Space is simply Zanza's memory of the universe before its destruction and that he is a computer used during the experiment that destroyed the universe. However, with both Zanza and Meyneth gone, the world begins to stagnate and Alvis reveals to Shulk that he is the new god. He asks Shulk whether he wants to allow the world to continue stagnating, or if he wants to evolve the world to the next level. The party is sent back to the Sentient Genesis, and Shulk chooses to evolve the world and wishes for a world with no gods.

Future Redeemed[edit]

While talking to Shulk, A reveals to him that Memory Space was generated by Ontos.
