Alcamoth is an area in Future Connected. Compared to Alcamoth in Xenoblade Chronicles, this version has been abandoned and is full of Fogbeasts.
Geography[edit]
Following the collapse of the Bionis, Alcamoth is now adjacent to the Bionis' Shoulder. As the Centre Gate transporter in Eryth Sea is no longer around, the transporter at the Main Entrance has instead been reconfigured to connect to one on the nearby Soltnar Seal Island.
A year after the mass conversion of High Entia into Telethia and ensuing disrepair has led to noticeable damage to various systems within the floating city. Two of the three roads leading up to the Imperial Palace from the lower level are ruined, and the city has started to become overrun by plant life. Large chunks of hexagonal glass forming the city's canopy have fallen out and/or broken. The inside of the palace is entirely dark. Aside from the Fog King, the city is inhabited exclusively by monsters, many of which are Fogbeasts created by the Fog King's power, while Telethia swarm the outside of the city.
After the party defeats the Fog King, Alcamoth is largely restored to how it looked before.
Story[edit]
Shulk and Melia travel to the floating remains of the Bionis' Shoulder after learning that Alcamoth was located there. As they are about to arrive, however, Junks is suddenly shot down by a mysterious laser appearing from the city, forcing them to crash-land on the shoulder. At the Companions' Cape, the party learns from Maxis that Alcamoth had been been overtaken by the Fog King, a monster seemingly impervious to any form of attack, ultimately forcing them to abandon the city.
When the party arrives in Alcamoth, they immediately note the presence of a strange rift. Before they can investigate, however, they hear the scream of a child from further in. They head toward the rift to find Teelan being attacked by a Snowal Taos shrouded by a dark haze, which they at first assume may be the Fog King. The monster is defeated, but the group is then attacked by the true Fog King, which appears from the rift. They try to fight it, their attacks prove largely ineffective, and they retreat.
The party later learns from Radzam in Gran Dell that the Fog King is kept in check by the Telethia that have gathered around Alcamoth feeding on the ether that it produces, effectively containing it within the city. However, they then notice that a larger rift has suddenly appeared outside of the city, causing its influence to spread across the Bionis' Shoulder.
Once the Monado Replica EX is upgraded to the Monado Replica EX+ to combat the Fog King, the party returns to Alcamoth to face it once again. The Fog King continues to grow stronger as the rift expands, but it suddenly becomes weaker as Telethia start to fly into the rift, destabilizing it. With this, Melia is able to destroy the Fog King with a large blast of ether, which also closes the rift.
In the aftermath of the battle, Shulk and Melia bring the people of Colony 9 and the Bionis' Shoulder together to rebuild the city. Melia's coronation ceremony is then held within the restored Alcamoth.

Collectables[edit]
Curiously, coordinates of all collectable spawnpoints are identical between Alcamoth in the main game and Future Connected. However, the Future Connected version of Alcamoth has it's X and Z coordiantes swapped (meaning everything is rotated by 90 degrees), and collectable spawnpoints were not adjusted for this. Because of that oversight, collectables are exceptionally rare as many collection orbs are now inaccessible and are mainly found near the main escalator, especially to the left of it. This was never patched.
