Sword Valley is an area of the Mechonis in Xenoblade Chronicles. Many fights occur between the Mechon and the Homs here.
Geography[edit]
Sword Valley is situated directly upon the Mechonis' Great Sword. While presumably running the entire length of the blade, the only accessible section of the valley spans from the Bionis' right thumb to Galahad Fortress, at the sword's hilt. Sword Valley is rather dry and rusted, compared to other areas on Mechonis. The main path grows very dry and sparse grass, while buildings and enclosed sections of the Valley retain a similar aesthetic to the rest of the Titan, barring the Fallen Arm. Being both a frequent battleground and situated directly above the Arm, debris from the sword commonly can be found on the Arm below. Even some Homs survivors of the battle a year prior to Xenoblade Chronicles survived falling from the sword.
Story[edit]
A year prior to the events of the game, the Homs made their last stand against the Mechon there in the Battle of Sword Valley. The battle goes badly until Dunban, wielding the Monado, alongside Dickson and Mumkhar manage to destroy a couple Mechon until Mumkhar decides to desert the two to save himself, only to be killed. Dunban, despite showing weakness for using the Monado for too long, manages to end the battle in the Homs' favour, but his right arm is permanently crippled.
A year later, Shulk and his companions made their way to Sword Valley on their way to Galahad Fortress during their search for Yaldabaoth who abducted Fiora. Before the party makes their way to Galahad Fortress, Alvis arranges a supply convoy, led by Dickson to allow the party to supply up before making their way to the fortress. When the party reaches the hilt, they are confronted by a mechanised Mumkhar, calling in several Mass-Produced Faces and his own Face Mechon, Metal Face, whose weapons are upgraded to specifically to decompose anything from Bionis in an attempt to stop the party from going any further. Despite this, he is defeated and fell into the Great Sea to his death. The party then made their way into Galahad Fortress.
The Bionis allied forces later engages the Mechon on Sword Valley while Shulk and his companions confront Egil. Using the new Havreses, developed by Lorithia and the Ministry of Research, the allied forces are at a huge advantage. The battle later ends when the Mechonis awakens. Sword Valley is later destroyed, along with the rest of the Mechonis after Zanza used the Bionis to kill Egil.

In Xenoblade Chronicles 3[edit]
The Mechonis' sword, and by extension Sword Valley, reappears in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Now known as Swordmarch, the area is mostly vertical, making it very different to traverse. The music of the area, Great Sword's Base, is a remix of the Sword Valley theme.
In Project X Zone 2[edit]
Sword Valley is an area in Project X Zone 2.
Trivia[edit]
- Sword Valley is the only area on Mechonis where Mechanical Rhythm and Irregular Bound doesn't play.
