The High Entia Tomb is an area in Xenoblade Chronicles located on the Bionis' head at Eryth Sea.

Geography[edit]

The High Entia Tomb is a large complex located on the eastern end of Eryth Sea, accessed through a transporter near the Centre Gate by Alcamoth. Used by the High Entia in ancient times as part of a ceremony to judge those who would ascend the throne, the tomb is filled with several security measures to deter intruders, including trapdoors and mechanical guardians.

Entering from the Tomb Approach, the Sealed Chamber houses the door leading to the main area of the tomb, which is locked by a mechanism that determines whether entrants are of High Entia descent. The central area of the complex is made up of three main chambers. The passageways in the Hall of Spirits and Hall of Trials are built over seemingly-bottomless chasms; of note is that the walls of the Hall of Spirits are covered by ancient High Entia writings. At the end of this path is the Ceremony Hall, where an artificial intelligence simulating a High Entia ruler from the distant past judges the successors for the trial.

The lower levels of the tomb consist of a maze of corridors. The lowest floors feature pools of water, where intruders land after activating traps. The Valley of Emperors, located directly beneath the Hall of Spirits, features a large, glowing mass, speculated to be the tomb's "nerve center."[1] Climbing up the tower beneath the Hall of Trials leads back to the ground floor. The tomb also features hidden chambers where treasures are kept, and a hidden corridor behind the back wall of the Ceremony Hall that leads to a secret laboratory.

Story[edit]

To gain favor with her people and secure her position as the successor to the High Entia throne, Melia is tasked with venturing into the tomb alone and completing a special ceremony. Shulk has a vision of Melia being attacked by an assassin in the tomb, and the party, joined by Alvis, goes after her. Inside, however, Reyn accidentally triggers a security measure that sends them to the lower levels of the tomb.

Reaching the Ceremony Hall, Melia is greeted by a simulation of her distant ancestor, which tells her that her half-Homs blood is the key to freeing their kind from the Bionis' curse and judges her as worthy of ascending the throne. Before she can leave, however, she is attacked by a masked Tyrea. Melia struggles to hold her off until the party arrives, at which point she is joined by a Telethia. Both of them are defeated, and Alvis saves the party from the Telethia's destruction while Tyrea disappears.
