Frontier Village is an area in Xenoblade Chronicles located on the Bionis. The home village of the Nopon, it lies between Makna Forest and Eryth Sea.

Geography[edit]

Frontier Village is situated inside and around an enormous tree in Makna Forest. Most of the infrastructure and technology within the village is derived from the forest in some manner; Time Mushrooms which release spores at regular intervals to mark the time of day, wooden platforms, buildings, and machinery, lamps made with Pollen Orbs, et cetera. The village is entirely populated by Nopon, with visitors of Bionis' other sapient races welcome but rare.

The village is divided into several ascending levels on the inside of the tree. Beneath the ground level is the kitchen and food storehouse. The ground level houses the Central Plaza, in the center of which is a pool of water surrounding the Sacred Altar, and above which is a shopping district. The second floor is the Orb Storage Level, where Pollen Orbs manufactured at the Pollen Works Level on the fourth floor are kept. The fifth floor is the Archaeology Level, where Nopon explorers and researchers are based. The third and sixth floors serve as housing levels. On the highest floor inside the tree is the Mysterious Sanctuary where the village chief resides. Finally, at the top of the tree is Apex Lake, which also holds the one-way transport to Eryth Sea.

Story[edit]

After the party saves Melia in Makna Forest, she leads the group to Frontier Village, where she requests that Dunga, the Nopon chief, aid them in reaching Eryth Sea while she continues her mission to slay the Telethia in the forest. The party, however, wishes to aid Melia, and Dunga appoints a Nopon representative to join them. The chosen Nopon is Riki, who, as it turns out, has been named the village's "Heropon" to repay his debts.

The party returns to the village after defeating the Telethia, with Riki taking the credit. Dunga grants the party passage to Eryth Sea, and convinces Riki to continue accompanying them.
