The Soylent System is a group of Solaris facilities in Xenogears.

Story

The Soylent System is an organism experiment laboratory and disposal facility run by Solaris. It also acts as a production facility for food and medicine to feed the populance and maintain the limiters. The Wels are also created within the Soylent System. Elly's father Erich used to be the superintendent of the Soylent System but resigned due to his guilt, trying to protect as many land dwellers as possible.

Fei, Elly and Citan visit the Soylent System in Solaris where Fei and Elly consume food that is produced from Wels.

Later, Solaris reactivates the Soylent System facilities on the surface after parts of the populace start mutating due to the removal of the limiters. People are promised that they will be freed from their agony by coming to the facilities, but in actuality are utilized for further experimentation. The party destroys the Soylent System facilities and at one of them must fight the Sufal Mass and Sufals, which are created from the individuals brought there. It is here where Elly first starts showing signs of being like Sophia.

Trivia

• The Soylent System's name as well as the fact that Wels are being used for food are inspired by the 1973 movie Soylent Green.
