Merkava is an area in Xenogears. The party travels to it in order to rescue Elly from Krelian.
Story[edit]
After Krelian captures Elly, he resurrects the giant fortress Merkava, using it as his ark to attack and transform the world. The party heads there in order to rescue Elly and stop him. Along the way they are met by the Elements who are in pursuit of Ramsus. Ramsus is soon encountered after entering Merkava and reveals his past to the party. Afterwards the party fights him in the Omnigear Amphysvena. After defeating him the party continues through Merkava, eventually finding Krelian, Miang and a crucified Elly in front of Deus. Miang is fought in her Omnigear Opiomorph. Afterwards Deus absorbs the Anima Relics from all of the party's Omnigears. Ramsus then appears, enraged by being used by both Krelian and Miang, strikes them both down. This fails due to Krelian's body is composed of a nanomachine colony and the last Miang awakening within Elly. Miang tells the party about Deus then departs along with Krelian. Fei pursues in Weltall-2 and disappears.
The central portion of Merkava is encountered again as part of the last stages of the final dungeon of the game, Deus.
