Babel Tower is an area in Xenogears. It is a large tower in the center of the Aquvy region.
Story[edit]
Babel Tower is a large tower that is made up of the hull of the Eldridge. If the party tries to head into it before the downfall of the Ethos, it is guarded and entry is not permitted. After the defeat of Bishop Stone and his Gear Alkanshel, the party heads up Babel Tower, hoping to get in contact with Shevat. Along the way they must fight off an attack by Gebler, where Ramsus and Miang head out to battle the party in their Gears. An attack by Shevat from above forces their retreat. The party continues up the tower and at the top must battle Maria in her Gear Seibzehn before being permitted entry to Shevat.
The party returns to Babel Tower later in the game hoping to use the mirror on it to deflect a beam from Ft. Jasper that will destroy the Gate located underneath the Ethos Headquarters. Dominia and Kelvena arrive to fight the party and stop the plan, but are defeated. While it takes two attempts, the beam is successfully deflected, destroying the Gate.

Trivia[edit]
- According to one NPC in the Ethos H.Q., the Babel Tower was built with the intention of arriving to the sky. This may be a reference to the Mesoamerican pyramids built by the Maya civilization (e.g. the Temple of Kukulcan), which its purpose of approaching the sky in a ritual and symbolic way.
