The Nopon trade guilds, sometimes capitalized as Nopon Trade Guild, are a set of eleven guilds dedicated to trading and ran by the Nopon. These guilds serve as a neutral meeting ground for Alrest's nations. As such, the guilds are locations that can act as a midway point for travels between Titans, where goods can be sold or auctioned off, where money can be lent or salvaging can be practiced. Not every guild is equal in power, with the weakest and strongest of them varying between time periods.

History[edit]

The Nopon trade guilds find their origin in Alrest's ancient times. At the time, Captain Nopopon, a Nopon pirate sailed the Cloud Sea. He soon grew tired of fighting for riches, and, after noticing the way human treated the Nopon, he decided to change the way he talked and behaved. Instead of the way Nopon talked and behaved at the time, posh and educated, he began to fluff his fur and talk in a childish way, creating the modern way Nopon talk and behave, to exploit the humans' view of the Nopon and get an advantage while making deals.

Doing so, he founded a trade guild, which later became the first Nopon Trade Guild. With time, many other Nopon trade guilds were founded until there were eleven.

List of Nopon trade guilds[edit]

Six of the eleven Nopon trade guilds are named, either through the story, quests, NPC dialogues or flavor texts.

Argentum Trade Guild[edit]

Main article: Argentum

The guild founded by one of Captain Nopopon's descendant. How strong the Argentum Trade Guild was during the Aegis War is unknown. However, in the 500 years between the war and the beginning of the main game, it rose in power to become Alrest's biggest guild under Chairman Bana's tenure. It is possible that its success came from Don Dondon's Lindwurm influence, as well as Bana's merciless attitude when it comes to money.

Voltis Trade Guild[edit]

Main article: Voltis Trade Guild

Described as the hottest trade guild in Alrest at the time of the Aegis War. After 500 years, it became the second biggest trade guild in Alrest, right behind Argentum. One of the guild's traditions is the Walky-Walky, a rite of passage for the guild's youth which after they become five years old, sends them on a pilgrimage on Alrest's major Titans. The guild's leadership appears to be transmitted, as Foorara is its heir.

Pyrithium Trade Guild[edit]

Main article: Pyrithium Trade Guild

Alrest's biggest trade center at the time of the Aegis War. After 500 years, it became the weakest of all eleven trade guilds. The guild is the moneylender of choice of Azurda, as he borrowed a million G from them at least twice. Much like Argentum, the guild is lead by a chairman.

Larus Trade Guild[edit]

Dibidi and Bidibi's trade guild, contracted by the Ardainian Army to follow the party to the Cliffs of Morytha, mentioned in the DB Sisters' quest, Souvenirs from Morytha.

Momon Trade Guild[edit]

A trade guild mentioned in the Merc Missions Nopon Pop Stars and Big Ship Escort.

Nardron Trade Guild[edit]

A trade guild mentioned in the Merc Mission Exiting Tantal.
