Cloud Sea
The Cloud Sea is, as its name implies, an endless sea of clouds that covers the world of Alrest in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Torna ~ The Golden Country. Titans walk, fly, or swim in the Cloud Sea, extracting ether from it as a source of energy. The Cloud Sea has the same density as water, allowing both people and monsters to swim inside. Due to the Cloud Sea's surface being uneven, Titans that walk in the sea are affected by tides, with the tide rising or lowering depending on time.
The Cloud Sea's currents carry many strange items, which can be salvaged by salvagers by diving under the sea.
Geography[edit]
While many parts of the Cloud Sea remain uncharted, such as the the area where the Ancient Ship was sunk, the parts that were mapped appear to be separated in smaller seas:
- The Cyclus Sea, which Rex and the party, on Gramps, fly south of to escape the Ancient Ship, ultimately landing in Gormott.
- The Beeching Cloud Sea, where the Merc Mission Big Catch Opportunity takes place.
Under specific conditions, the Cloud Sea can take other forms:
- The Cloud Sea ridge in Leftheria, in which the Cloud Sea forms a massive wall of clouds around the archipelago's main Titan.
- The Great Void, a hole in the Cloud Sea around the World Tree, created and maintained by Ophion.
