Vigents are large ape-like enemies in Xenoblade Chronicles X under the Theroid classification. These apes are known for their strength and mobility.

Description[edit]

Young vigent males live in bachelor herds known for their coordinated hunting mastery. Breeding is a privilege belonging exclusively to alpha male leaders, and clashes for this position are extremely common at the start of mating season. A vanquished leader will be ousted from his perch and replaced by the victorious challenger. But should a challenger lose, his claws are shattered, thereby preventing any future attempts at glory. If an established leader boasts exceptional strength, he may not need suffer a challenge for several years.

In combat[edit]

Vigents are mainly melee attackers that use their two claws to do physical damage that can even inflict debuffs like Physical Res Down and HP Recovery Down. However, the Vigents' strongest attack, Flying Claw, is an extremely powerful move that not only deals heavy electric damage but also inflicts Virus, a status that temporarily prevents the use of ranged attacks and Battle Art that use ranged weapons.

While Flying Claw can be prevented by destroying the Vigent's two front claws, it can still be difficult because both claws have a hardness of 1, meaning that both the Vigent and its claws will take less damage when the claws are targeted.

Additionally, the Vigent's Rock Missile deals damage that can Topple flying Skells, which can make it difficult to avoid Flying Claw.

In general, they are weak to ether and thermal attacks, usually taking 25% more damage from ether attacks and 50% more damage from thermal attacks. Additionally, once the head plate is destroyed, its exposed head counts as a weak point, since it has a hardness of -3.

A Vigent can be targeted in six different appendages: the head plate, the exposed head underneath, its left and right claws, and its left and right feet.

Typically, Vigents have these attribute resistances:
