Marnucks are Humanoid enemies in Xenoblade Chronicles X that are members of the Ganglion and are the primary soldiers of the organization. In combat, they fight similarly to the Prone. These enemies typically have humanoid bodies, although their feet resemble thick hands and vertical mandibles. They are typically bald and have blue skin, with deep voices.

Description[edit]

An exceedingly warlike race hailing from Wyran, a planet that was destroyed in a global civil war where the only survivors were those who backed the Ganglion. Marnucks revel in combat above all else, and as such, military tech is their greatest accomplishment. They subscribe to a polytheistic religion, the chief deity of which rules over life and death as a kind of "god of the graveyard." Sending adversaries to this deity by felling them in battle is considered a noble act. The more foes that are vanquished, the better one's standing in the afterlife. As Marnucks are eternally bound to the battlefield, many choose to live as vagabonds. Social class is determined by the outcome of a ceremonial duel during the rite of adulthood, as well as subsequent fruits of war reaped thereafter.

Additional Notes[edit]

According to Da Zeulbe, the Marnucks in the Ganglion are the type to act far above their station.

In combat[edit]

Marnucks are typically identified quickly, as they roar when they enter combat.

Marnucks primarily use their rifles to deal damage, although they will often slam with physical damage as well. The rifle used depends on the enemy, but there are Marnucks for each of the six attributes (physical, beam, ether, thermal, electric, and gravity). In rare cases, they will self-destruct to destroy themselves, along with thermal damage to Launch everyone around them. They use the backpack on their backs to enhance their attack powers.

Variations[edit]

Marnucks come in six variations depending on the clothes they wear. Most variants appear throughout all the continents of Mira.

  • Red Elite Marnucks typically wear full red armor. They drop Fine Red Belt from their main body.
  • White Elite Marnucks are found on all continents with full white armor. They drop the Fine White Belt from their bodies.
  • There is only one Marnuck Elite with red highlights on white armor: Ahama, the Covetous. This Marnuck is found during the daytime at the top of the Cavernous Abyss during the daytime and drops the Fine Red Belt from the main body.
  • There is only one Gold Marnuck, the Berserker Marnuck. This one is found at the O'rrh Sim Castle Ruins in Cauldros. He drops the Fine Transparent Belt from his main body.
  • There are two variations of non-elite Marnucks, identified by their lack of helmets. Both of them drop Fine Transparent Belts from their main body.
    • One variant is found with red and green armor.
    • The other variant is found with lighter-colored armor.
  • Volitarian Marnucks have molten gold-like armor and skin and are found exclusively on Volitaris during Chapter 13 (Act 3).

In general, all Marnucks drop these items:
