The Monado is the weapon used by Dunban in the prologue of Xenoblade Chronicles.
As the prologue training weapon, this variant of the Monado is one of the very few with an Unbeatable 100% gem that can be used directly by the player, in addition to exceptionally high defences that not even most late-game weapons possess. It is also mechanically capable of damaging Face Mechon, despite this being incongruent with the story.
