Defense Up is a buff in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. It decreases the amount of damage affected characters take from attacks.

At base, Defense Up grants +15% Damage reduction (it does not affect Phys. Def. nor Ether Def.). This can be increased with effects such as Swelling Blessing. It lasts for 20 seconds at base, up to 40 seconds with enough buff-duration-increasing effects.

As a form of damage reduction, Defense Up stacks additively with other damage reduction sources. It is incredibly powerful in combination with such sources, and reaching 100% damage reduction is entirely possible.
