Xenosaga Episode I - Der Wille zur Macht is a manga series authored and illustrated by Atsushi Baba. It is based off of the game of the same name, staying relatively faithful to its events. However the structure of the plot is somewhat re-ordered, making for both cut dialogue/scenes as well as completely new dialogue/scenes.

Differences[edit]

  • The scene involving the Zohar's excavation, and thus Masuda, is cut.
  • The story now begins with Cherenkov being scolded by Margulis as well as Jr.'s reaction to the disappearance of Ariadne. These serve as a prologue scene.
  • The first proper scene of the story is now Matthews and the Elsa crew encountering KOS-MOS. As such, Shion's introduction is now the scene of her and Allen on the escape pod.
  • The events of the Woglinde's destruction are now portrayed through a flashback scene, being heavily stripped of dialogue.
  • chaos is introduced slightly later than in the game. Instead coming out to meet Shion and the others once they've already boarded the Elsa.
  • A new discussion between Gaignun and Jr. about the Zohar Emulators was added.
  • Ziggy rescuing MOMO is now moved to after Jr. raids the wreckage of the ship.
  • Ziggy's introduction as well as his espionage in Pleroma were mostly cut, meaning the conversation MOMO has with him about his nickname is moved to when they are already in their ship.
