Weltall-2 is a Gear piloted by Fei Fong Wong in Xenogears.

Description[edit]

Weltall-2 was created by Taura and Balthasar from the heavily damaged body of Weltall that was recovered in the forest. Using nanomachines to repair it, it could have been simply returned to the original state of Weltall. However one of the slave generator's functions was altered due to Weltall's crash. Balthasar, reviewing the huge leftover output, analyzed the black box for speeding up its system output. Through this the slave generator could determine when it was time to change its output for Id mode. Through this the Gear would emit a magnetic wave frequency similar to what it did when Id recently destroyed Solaris. Noticing the slave generator's alignment with Zohar, he determined how the pilot's markers coincided with that of the slave generator and created a bypass wave.

Balthasar had to account for the effect of Fei's spiritual level on this. The bypass wave had markings that were almost identical to those from when Id emerged and as thus could emulate Fei turning into Id. As such, a limiter was placed on Fei and the Gear to control this. At times the bypass wave could be overcome, resulting in being overloaded. The Id mode, which is very strung could take over the frame, but when it had run its course the normal mode would return. Nanomachines were placed in Fei's body and mind to surpress this.

The Id mode used through Weltall-2 was only temporary and compared to the original Id's fighting power was not inferior in any way. Also keeping in mind that Fei was the Contact, an output potential even greater than an Omnigear.

Story[edit]

When Weltall is defeated in the sky by Vendetta, it crashes to the forest below. The Gear is recovered by Taura, and through the assistance of the fellow Shevat sage Balthasar, Weltall is repaired with nanomachines and upgraded to Weltall-2. Through a nanomachine device that Taura puts on Fei's wrist, he is able to suppress the appearance of Id. Balthasar applies a similar methodology to Weltall-2, however also add the capability for a System Id to be triggered when desired. This transforms the Gear similar to how Weltall transformed to Weltall-Id, and its power is greatly enhanced. Fei is soon able to test this out when he encounters Vendetta again in the forest. This time utilizing System Id, he defeats the Gear with ease. Fei continues to pilot the Gear until Id once again takes control, reverting the Gear to Weltall-Id. He brings the Gear to Bethlehem, where the Zohar resides, transforming it into an even more powerful Gear. After Fei successfully consolidates all of his personalities he has contact with the Wave Existence. This transforms Weltall-2 into its final form, Xenogears.
