Turn Strike (ターンストライク, Turn Strike) is Shulk's Talent Art in Xenoblade Chronicles before he obtains the Monado. It acts as his only Break Art until he gets Stream Edge, but is also quite powerful by itself, dealing twice as much damage as an unlevelled Monado Buster.
When playing New Game Plus, Shulk has Activate Monado as his Talent Art from the beginning because he keeps his equipped weapon from the previous playthrough, meaning that Turn Strike can no longer be used after a first playthrough.
Overview[edit]
Turn Strike has two purposes: to inflict Break, and to deal a large amount of damage. The Break it inflicts lasts for a very long time of 10 seconds - only a level VIII Stream Edge can match, and no other party member can beat 9.5 seconds without access to master Arts Manuals. This is mostly beneficial because Reyn's Wild Down has a fairly long cooldown time at early levels, which gives him a better chance of inflicting Topple. Even when Shulk gets other break Arts, Turn Strike's long Break duration and high damage keep it useful for its entire lifespan, until Shulk gets the Monado and it can no longer be used.
