Vector Industries' Third R&D Division, often referred to as simply Third Division, is a major research and development department under Vector Industries. They primarily specialize in most aspects surrounding the industry of Realians.

History[edit]
Four years before the events of Episode I (T.C. 4763), Shion Uzuki had initially applied to join the Third R&D Division of Vector in the hopes of connecting with Realians and overcoming her past trauma. However, the papers she submitted to Third Division were also found to have been accepted by the First Division. This was, in fact, because Kevin Winnicot, the chief of the First Division's Type 1 OS Design Department, had shown interest in the papers Shion submitted and eventually pulled strings to have her join his department.
Episode I[edit]
While helping Caspase with Realian maintenance onboard the Woglinde, Shion passingly mentions that she requested reassignment to the Third Division.
A Missing Year[edit]
After the events of Episode II, Shion is transferred to be the head of the Third Division offices on Fifth Jerusalem, most likely as a response to her request for reassignment. 6 months into this position, her offices are tied into the S.O.C.E.'s investigation on Gnosis terrorism when information regarding a mysterious Realian girl's potential involvement is brought to light. The following events from this lead Shion to leave Vector Industries altogether.
Lore[edit]
- An added scene in Xenosaga I & II highlights the moment when Shion's First Division Director notifies her of her transfer to Third Division. Her reaction to this news is notably conflicting, but is interrupted when she receives orders directly from Vector's CEO Wilhelm to assist the Kukai Foundation in the retrieval of the Original Zohar.

Its sole purpose is to oversee the development, production, training, and distribution of Realians.
Though her motives were unknown to others, Shion apparently requested a reassignment to this division.
Episode III
Vector Third R&D Division
The department devoted to the development, production, education, and sale of
Realians. Commonly referred to as Thrid Division.
Even after being sold, Realians are obligated to visit on a regular basis for counseling and maintenance.
Xenosaga I & II
