Tetsuya Takahashi is a Japanese video game developer and director. He is the main director of the Xeno series and has contributed to the development of essentially all games and media associated with the series. He is married to Soraya Saga.
Biography[edit]
Takahashi was born on the 18th of November, 1966 in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. He entered the video game industry as an artist at Nihon Falcom after he had spent all his tuition money on a PC Engine.[1] He first worked on Star Trader and then on hirst first RPG - Ys III: Wanderers from Ys.[2] For some games such as Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes, he worked together with Kunihiko Tanaka as artists. After several years working with Nihon Falcom, he joined Squaresoft in 1990, initially as an artist again. While there, he worked on several games such as Final Fantasy VI before being assigned a team to work on his own game, which would become Xenogears.
In 2001, after the release of Xenogears, Takahashi left Square and formed Monolith Soft, in large part due to his ambitious goals for the Xenogears franchise being unattainable at Square. During this period, he worked on the Xenosaga series as well as other games such as Soma Bringer.
Monolith Soft was acquired by Nintendo in 2007. At this time Takahashi began work on the Xenoblade Chronicles series; he has continued to work on the series until the present day.
