BLADE Mission

BLADE Missions in the Wii U version of Xenoblade Chronicles X are missions that are automatically joined at specific intervals whenever the player is in an online Squad. The overarching mission is timed, and requires people in the Squad to do Squad Tasks and Squad Missions in order to gain Materials, Skell weapons, and Holofigures.

In the Definitive Edition, Squad Tasks and Squad Missions (now mainly called Online Missions) are completely separated.

Overview

When a BLADE Mission is active, a panel with a number, like "No. 10", is shown on the bottom right corner of the screen. This section lists the five Squad Tasks that the team needs to do in order to unlock the Squad Missions. Additionally, there is a timer on the bottom right that shows the time remaining in the Squad Mission.

Squad Tasks

Holding the R button and then pressing L will show the details of each of the Squad Tasks, each of which requires doing a task until the number below reaches 0, which clears the Squad Task. Each action, from contributing to the task to clearing the task to participating in the squad that completed the task, grants Reward Tickets.

• Yellow icons indicate that any enemy of that specific enemy category should be defeated in order to complete the task.
• Orange icons indicate that a specific enemy species should be defeated in order to complete the task.
• Red icons indicate that a Tyrant needs to be defeated in order to complete the task.
• Green icons indicate that Collectibles from a specific category (like Flora, Vegetables, or Fruits) should be collected to complete the task.
• Blue icons indicate that a specific Collectible should be collected to complete the task.
  • If a player has 99 of that specific collectible, they won't be able to collect the item for the task, so they will have to sell some in order to participate.

Squad Missions

Once a task has been completed, it will open one or two specific Squad Missions. The "SQUAD MISSION" text in the bottom right panel will change from gray to light blue to indicate whenever Squad Missions are available. Squad Missions are specific tasks that can be accepted at the Network Console. In order to complete the BLADE Mission as a whole, players in the squad will have to complete the Squad Missions. Completing all missions as well as any secret missions found by performing actions in the Squad Missions will grant a "Special Complete", which grants more Reward Tickets.

In addition, completing a BLADE Mission contributes to the Conquest progress, which is a meter shown in the Squad selection menu. Once it fills up, the Global Nemesis mission The Final Menace will be accessible at the Network Console.
