This article is about the missions taken in the Network Console. For details of the panel that appears on the bottom right while in a Squad, see BLADE Mission.
In the Japanese version, Squad Missions refer to Squad Tasks.

Squad Missions in Xenoblade Chronicles X are time-limited tasks given to the party from the Network Console. They consist of missions granted by completing Squad Tasks, and Global Nemesis missions, which involve defeating an enemy with a large number of health bars.

Completing these missions grants Armor, Materials, Holofigures, and even rare Skell weapons.

All Squad Missions allow for teams of at most four online players to cooperate to complete the missions, if "Accept and Recruit" is selected. "Accept with Current Party" allows the player to play through the mission with at most three other AI-controlled party members.

Online Multiplayer Recruitment[edit]

When "Accept and Recruit" is selected, only the main avatar, Cross, will be shown participating in the mission. A "Squad Mission Invitation" notification box will appear on the top left corner of the screen for all other Squad members online, allowing them to press "-" to accept the mission. Alternately, they can accept the mission by selecting it from the "Active Missions" menu of the Network Console.

When other BLADEs join, they will appear in the BLADE Barracks with the customizations made by the host of the mission. When they are ready, they will have to approach the door that allows them to depart for the mission so that the host can go without leaving them behind. The host will know when they are ready by noticing that there is a checkmark on their icon in the player status area at the top left of the screen. Once the players are ready, the host can approach the same door to depart for the mission.

When multiple players participate in a mission, the total number of Reward Tickets awarded is multiplied (rounded up) depending on the number of players. The formula used is equal to 1.1 ^ (playerCount - 1), meaning:

  • 2 players grant a 1.1x increase.
  • 3 players grant a 1.21x increase.
  • 4 players grant a 1.331x increase.

However, each player will get their mission reward items separately; they do not share the same rewards even when playing together. For example, if multiple people complete The Warlord's Challenge together, one person may be able to get the SRM-XR5140LA HOMURA Skell weapon while another player may get the SRM-XR5250LA KUROGANE.

Normal Squad Missions[edit]

Squad Missions can be accepted while a BLADE Mission is underway and the associated Squad Task has been completed. These missions are timed and often involve defeating enemies in an area before the time limit runs out. However, once the mission is fully completed by anyone in the squad, it cannot be started again until the Squad Task is re-completed when the BLADE Mission appears again.

In certain cases, messages will show during the mission. These messages usually indicate that a new mission can become available.

  • "A suspicious object is in the vicinity." This indicates that one or multiple Field Actions have appeared in the area and need to be performed in order to unlock a new Squad Mission.
  • "A suspicious foe is in the vicinity." This indicates that an enemy outside of the normal mission requirements has to be defeated in order to unlock a new Squad Mission.
  • "Enemy with the required materials detected." This indicates that one of the enemies has a specific appendage that needs to be destroyed in order to unlock the new Squad Mission.

Global Nemesis Missions[edit]

There are two Global Nemesis missions: The Planet's Guardian and The Final Menace. These missions involve fighting a Global Nemesis, an enemy with both HP and RP, or Resurrection Points. When its HP reaches zero, its RP goes down by one. Defeating one requires depleting all of its RP and HP.

In order to participate in a Global Nemesis mission, the player needs to spend 1 BLADE Medal in the Wii U version. In the Definitive Edition, each player gets 10 attempts at each mission instead. These missions are under a timer. Surviving the mission will grant rare Materials, and in the Wii U version, breaking appendages during the fight will grant appendage fragments. Appendage fragments reward multiple playthroughs of the same mission. While the Global Nemesis is active, selling appendage fragments will grant Reward Tickets. If it is defeated, one random fragment will be converted into a rare Material (Telethia Emerald for The Planet's Guardian and Yggralith Gold for The Final Menace). The rest are automatically converted to Reward Tickets at a worse rate of 1 ticket per fragment.

In the Wii U version:

  • The Planet's Guardian shows up approximately twice a week: once on Monday and once on Friday.
  • The Final Menace shows up once the Conquest Progress meter in the Squad selection menu fills up completely (with a cooldown of about 1 week if the meter fills up too quickly).

In the Definitive Edition, each Global Nemesis Mission appears an unknown amount of time after it was last finished.
