Spraine

Spraine is a minor character and an NPC in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. He is one of the salvagers in charge of the C.S.E.V. Maelstrom.

Story arc

During Chapter 1, Spraine is the one welcoming Rex on the Maelstrom and is part of the crew for the salvaging mission.

• Spraine is an Ardainian salvager who is in charge of the Maelstrom's maintenance.

He can, at first, be found in front of the Maelstrom on the Goldmouth Exit Dock in Goldmouth, Argentum Trade Guild during Chapter 1. Afterwards, he can be found on the C.S.E.V. Maelstrom, then on the Ancient Ship. From Chapter 2 on, he can be found anytime at the same place he is first met in Chapter 1.

It is the finest Titan Ship in all of the Argentum Trade Guild, after all.
But as you can see, it's currently undergoing maintenance. It won't be setting sail for a while yet.
If you want to see it in action, try coming around another time.

After Rex boards the C.S.E.V. Maelstrom

Rex! It's time to eat, drink, and be merry!
It'll be a while yet until we reach our destination.
Get yourself rested and ready to face the trials ahead. That's the salvager way.

I'd absolutely love to, but I sort of got guard duty…

Ah, that's too bad. Well make sure you guard like no one's ever guarded before!
Even mindless tasks like that are a part of life's little lessons! Ha ha ha!

After Rex takes over Monell's lookout shift

Fraid you can't board the Maelstrom right now. Sorry.

Once we're done with the expedition here, we need to be ready for the journey back to Goldmouth, right?
So we're taking care of the necessary maintenance right now.

Now if you're done hanging around here, I'd suggest you hurry up and go find your objective!
I don't want to stay in this creepy place any longer than I have to…

Chapter 2

I tell you, that's the last time I take on a salvaging job in an uncharted region.
I think I'm going to stick to boring old maintenance work for the time being.

We're keeping her well-maintained, but there are no plans for the Maelstrom to set sail any time soon.

Well, after that nasty business with Torna, nobody wants to be the next person to take the Maelstrom out.
Here's hoping when her next mission does come along, it goes a dam sight more smoothly than her last one!

During Fool's Gold

Apparently the Maelstrom's all reserved for some kind of important meeting right now. Nobody's allowed in.
You trying to get inside anyway?

Well, as you can see, the entrance is all blocked off. And I doubt you could get in from the Cloud Sea.
I guess that just leaves...entry from above?
