Skill (XCX)

Skills are a mechanic in Xenoblade Chronicles X that provide passive battle effects.
Mechanics[edit]
Each playable character can equip skills up to their number of skill slots. While most characters have a fixed number, Cross's number of skill slots is determined by the currently selected Class.
New skills are unlocked by increasing the character's Class rank: each skill is unlocked at a certain rank of a specific Class. Skills can be leveled up four times to Lv. 5 (labeled as Lv. MAX in-game). This requires Battle Points: 2 for level 2, 6 for level 3, 18 for level 4, and 36 for level MAX.
Aside from the skills Stellar Entry and Synchrony, skills only affect ground combat; when riding in Skells, the skills will not be active.
Cross can learn any skill in the game. Each skill is unlocked in a specific Class, but once unlocked can be used regardless of Class. Other playable characters can only unlock up to eight skills, each of which depend upon their specific Class.
