Shion -Kako no Kioku- (Across the Kosmos)

Shion -Kako no Kioku- (unofficially translated as Shion ~Memories of the Past~) is Disc 1, Track 24 on the Xenosaga Original Soundtrack and Disc 1, Track 1 on the Xenosaga Episode I album. It, alongside Game Over and Shion ~Emotion~, is one of the tracks based on the melody at the start of Omoide.

It plays on the Game Over screen (after all active playable characters have their HP reduced to 0 in battle).

Shion -Kako no Kioku- is Track 2 on the Across the Kosmos Xenosaga piano collection. It is a piano arrangement of Shion -Kako no Kioku-, arranged by Mariam Abounnasr and performed by Benyamin Nuss.

Official translation

The original piece has a looping structure featuring a short yet heart-rending melody. Preserving that structure, I arranged and rearranged the melody, trying to reflect the character Shion's backstory as much as possible. Differing from the relatively alien and in some ways impersonal "Last Battle" and "Life or Death", I wrote this arrangement as if Shion herself was pouring her emotions into it.

原曲では短くも切ないメロディがループする構成でしたので、ピアノアレンジでもそのようにしつつメロディのリアレンジを重ねて、Shionの人物像をなるべく反映するようにしています。異質でどこか無機質な「Last Battle」や「Life or Death」とは違い、感情を注ぎ込むようなイメージで書きました。
