Sergius XIV is a supporting character in Xenosaga: Pied Piper. During the game he ascends to becoming the Patriarch of the Immigrant Fleet.

Story arc

Sergius is a high ranking member of the Immigrant Fleet who became Patriarch after the assassination of Julius. He is seen in a scene speaking with a Cardinal about how the Zohar is as good as theirs now that Julius is dead. Despite the activities of Dmitri Yuriev and Voyager, Sergius is not too concerned. He desires to hold the Pilgrimage Council to show the Galaxy Federation their true greatness. He later holds the council at a cathedral. He warns his people about the "infidels" in the Galaxy Federation that want to take the Zohar, but says it will always be with them. The Zohar ascends behind him during his speech. Light starts emanating from it, but this causes the audience to start writhing in pain with many of them dying. He questions if it is Voyager, U-DO or Yuriev's Salvators that are causing this. Sergius survives the ordeal and blames the Galaxy Federation for the event. This breaks down the relationship that his predecessor Julius had been trying to forge.

Patriarch of the Immigrant Fleet's radical faction.

The Patriarch of the Immigrant Fleet’s radical faction who conspired with Voyager to assassinate Julius XVIII, a proponent of reconciliation with the Galaxy Federation.

Despite his plans to directly utilize the energy of the Zohar and seize total control of planet Abraxas, the Federation interfered with the political workings of planet Abraxas as a result of the incident in which the Zohar went out of control, forcing him to abdicate as Patriarch before his ambitions could be fulfilled.
