Xenosaga: The Animation

Sellers is an antagonist in the Xenosaga series. He is a scientist with connections to both the Galaxy Federation and the U-TIC Organization, and holds the position of technology consultant and Assistant Director in the Ormus Department of Sacraments.

Appearance and personality[edit]

Sellers is an older man with red hair and typically has his eyes covered with his motorized sunglasses. He is usually seen wearing what appears to be a white and black clergy robe with bronze trims. He also wears white gloves, white slacks, and white shoes. Having lost the feeling in his legs, he is always seen sitting in an electronic hover chair wherever he goes.

Sellers has no loyalty, only aiding his allies for his own self interest.

Episode I[edit]

Sellers only appears in a single scene in Episode I. He communicates with Margulis via video, doubting the possibility of them being able to find or open the door to Lost Jerusalem. He claims that even Joachim Mizrahi couldn't accomplish what Margulis is looking for with the original Zohar. Margulis claims they will proceed with Plan 401 which Sellers believes to be extreme. He is concerned that by treating MOMO too roughly they may lose the important information stored within the Y-Data. Sellers also expresses displeasure over Margulis seeking help from Albedo.

Episode II[edit]

Sellers appears in one scene in the game, speaking to Margulis. He tells him that he has destroyed Pleroma, considering it tainted by the Federation.

Sellers has more major role than in the previous games. Sellers defects from Ormus and sides with Dmitri Yuriev and his Salvator Faction. He is first seen working on Ω Res Novae as Yuriev and Citrine watch on.

Lore[edit]

  • Sellers lost the use of his legs after being shot by Joachim Mizrahi at the conclusion of the Miltian Conflict, bounding him to a wheelchair for the rest of his life.

Database[edit]

Episode I

Sellers

The man with motorized sunglasses, with whom Margulis was discussing the Zohar and plans for future, at the command center on Pleroma.

His appearance and demeanor indicate that he is a scientist of some sort. The fact that he spoke to Margulis as an equal indicates that he is also a very high ranking individual, but he is otherwise a mystery...

Episode III

Sellers

Sellers Database Thumbnail XS3.jpg

A man chasing after the shadow of Joachim.

A colleague of Joachim who participated alongside him in the U-TIC Organization's Zohar research. He feels an obsessive sense of rivalry towards Joachim.

After Joachim's death, Sellers plagiarized his life's work and directed a series of experiments using an Emulator at the Ormus Department of Sacraments. He presently works for the Federation on the development of Omega Res Novae under Dmitri Yuriev.

A man perpetually fixated on surpassing the heights reached by Joachim Mizrahi.

Sellers originally came from the Federation, not the Immigrant Fleet. After discovering the existence of Ormus, he made contact through a personal connection. Though he held the position of Assistant Director of the Department of Sacraments, he had no official rank within Ormus.

Even though, after the collapse of Miltia, Sellers saw the Federation's advantage and used his connections with Dmitri to join Salvator and the Federation, his decision was motivated exclusively by self-interest in achieving his goals, and not through any personal loyalty to the Federation.

Trivia[edit]

  • Despite his legs being crippled by Joachim Mizrahi after the Miltian Conflict, Sellers is seen standing upright in a video transmission with Margulis in Xenosaga Episode I.
  • The character of Sellers may have been based upon the character Dr. Strangelove from the movie of the same name. Strangelove is a wheelchair-bound scientist with dark glasses; his work is on apocalyptic weapons towards which he shows a cavalier attitude, and his alliances change wildly over the course of his life without regards to morality. Strangelove was played by the actor Peter Sellers, from which Sellers' name is likely derived.
