Story arc[edit]

Senator Roderich is first mentioned during a conversation between Emperor Niall and Mòrag during Chapter 4, where it is assumed that the Imperial Senate resuming the excavation of Judicium is his and the pro-war faction's doings.

He reappears during Chapter 5, while the party has just arrived to Fonsett Island. He conducts an inspection of the Titan Weapon Dig Site and the Titan weapons, Aeshma, the army has been excavating and modifying. He is given a rundown of the weapon's capabilities, before asking about the safety of those operating it. He then muses about Judicium and their creations, such as the Flesh Eaters, before announcing that he will be heading to Indol next.

Later on, while the party is staying in the Indoline Sanctum, an Ardainian soldier informs Brighid of Roderich's presence in the Praetorium, who tells Mòrag in turn. The two wonder if the senator's visit is about the Titan excavation in Temperantia. After the party learns that one of the excavated Titans is attacking the Urayan garrison there, and their subsequent audience with the Praetor about the situation, Mòrag decides to investigate alone, by interrogating Roderich.

Panicking at the prospect of the weapon he was excavating attacking without orders, Roderich is not reassured by the appearance of the Special Inquisitor and her Blade at his doorstep. The two Ardainians argue about the senator's restarting of the excavation, Roderich arguing that the Emperor does not understand the urgency of their situation, before saying that he was not the one who ordered the attack. The rest of the party joins them, Roderich questions who they are before learning that Rex is the Driver of the Aegis. Mythra questions him about the Empire's involvement once again and the party deduces that Jin and Torna are the likely culprits. Before they leave, Roderich begs Mòrag to fix the situation.

Roderich is not seen again from this point on and what became of him is unknown.

Lore[edit]

  • During his youth, he filled a whole Ancient Chalice up with Steam-Gel Ice Cream, before eating all of the ice cream up.[1]
    • The description of the Ancient Chalice's appearance heavily implies that it is a toilet that the people of Alrest salvaged.
  • While nothing is known about what became of Roderich after the situation between Mor Ardain and Uraya was defused, Ciamran believes that the senator will not escape a harsh sentence.

Roderich can be found in his room in the Indoline Sanctum (location) in the Indoline Sanctum, Indoline Praetorium, immediately after Mòrag confronts him about Aeshma, and until the end of Chapter 5.

Dialogue[edit]

Senator Roderich
Why... I had only the best interests of the state at heart...
Was what I was doing so wrong?
What was I supposed to have done to defend my country? Our Titan does not have many years left on the clock...
...Never mind. It's not as if dwelling on it now is going to do us any good.
When I return to Mor Ardain, I wonder what is to become of my place within the Senate...
