Rock is a character in Xenoblade Chronicles X. He and Celica are on the run from the Ganglion.
Appearance and personality[edit]
Rock has a large hunched body, covered in fur. His wrists have large metal bracelets, and large pieces of natural-looking armor jut out from those wrists for protection from behind. He carries a bag on his back next to his small tail.
Rock has a rather excitable and optimistic personality. He shrugs off attacks and crushing blows like it's nothing, but he does not like fighting.
Story arc[edit]
Manhunt[edit]
During the mission Manhunt, Elma's team receives a mission to find two xenoforms skulking around Noctilum, believing them to be Dagahn and Ryyz. At Shark's Jaws, the party either reaches Celica and Rock first, or intercepts the Ganglion as they discover their hideout. Celica is initially wary of Elma's team, but Rock is more willing to trust them. Thanks to that trust and the fact that the team had saved Tatsu before, the two manage to migrate to New LA and live in the area next to the Integrated Production Plant.
New in New LA[edit]
Chausson wants Rock to fight for BLADE, but Rock does not wish to fight. Chausson argues that since he is being pursued by the Ganglion, he should fight for them to earn his keep as a citizen. He feels bad that he isn't willing to fight, and Celica decides to search for work as a BLADE for him.
Vandham joked that she should clear a mission solo to join the organization, and she took it seriously and went on a journey to Sylvalum to pick up selenean sage in the Behemoth's Shadows. Elma promises to find her for Rock.
At Behemoth's Shadows, Rock admits that he's scared of caves, explaining that the Ganglion forced him to do bad things and kept him in a dark, cramped place to transport him. He explains that he was forced to destroy Celica's village, but Celica still saved him. He wants to help Celica himself, though Elma lets him know that he should be able to accept help from friends, and Cross shares a thumbs up with him. When they reach Celica, they find her being attacked by a Dimnet Xiphias. Rock grabs ahold of the xiphias' horn, preventing it from going any further, and then throwing it against the opposite wall. Elma's team handles the rest of the fight while Rock helps Celica leave the cave.
Back in New LA, Vandham congratulates Celica for completing his BLADE test, and says Rock should be able to stay with Celica as part of her family. Chausson, however, states that Rock's presence is still a risk to peace with the Ganglion. He, however, has a new opportunity: as NLA has a shortage of heavy construction machinery, he offers Rock a job as a construction worker, and Rock accepts.
Fitting In[edit]
Rock is working near the Outfitters Test Hangar while Elma's team waits with Celica. However, a piece of machinery malfunctions and the metal beams above collapse. However, Rock manages to save his coworker Bernat's life, although his head was hurt in the process, even though it's only a minor injury for him. The aerozium beams are bent beyond repair, so Rock asks Celica and her team to find aerozium ore.
While at the Floating Reef, Tatsu asks why Celica helped Rock even though he and the other Gaurs had destroyed the village. She explains that Rock was created by the Ganglion as a living weapon. But Rock chose to take Celica and run instead of fight. She appreciates the kindness the BLADEs have offered him, providing him a way to live without fighting.
When Celica returns with the aerozium, Rock thanks everyone and delivers the ore to his boss, and his coworkers thank Rock for having such amazing friends.

- Internal text in the Japanese version suggests Rock was planned to be Celica's personal Skell at some point during development, as he appears in a list of Skells. However, this is not implemented.
