A two-thirds-full Party Gauge.

The Party Gauge is an element of combat in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Torna ~ The Golden Country. It is a gauge in the upper-left of the screen that fills as the party fights, and can be consumed by reviving Incapacitated party members or starting Chain Attacks.

Overview[edit]

The Party Gauge is split into three "bars". A full Party Gauge is worth 300 points; each bar is worth 100 points. Its value persists between save file loads.

Filling and depleting the gauge[edit]

The rate at which the gauge fills is dependent upon its current value. If the gauge is less than or equal to 1 bar full (0-100 points), Party Gauge gains are multiplied by 1.25; if it is greater than 2 bars full (201-300 points), gains are multiplied by 0.75. Gains are unmodified when the gauge is between 1 and 2 bars full (101-200 points).

Gains can also be modified by the difficulty setting: gains are 100% in Easy and Normal difficulty, and 25% in Bringer of Chaos. In Custom difficulty, they can be set to values between 25% and 250%. They can be further modified by equipping certain Pouch Items (primarily Drinks and Charms). These three effects (current gauge value, difficulty, and pouch items) stack multiplicatively with one another.

Some effects grant partial filling of the Party Gauge at the end of Chain Attacks. These are affected by difficulty, but not by Pouch Items or the modification due to the gauge being at less than 1 bar.

The following actions fill the gauge in combat (values are in absence of the above modifiers). Fulfilling multiple conditions at once results in the points from each of the conditions being added simultaneously.

Outside of combat[edit]

By default, the Party Gauge depletes out of combat by 1 point per second. This effect can be reduced in main-game Xenoblade Chronicles 2 by obtaining the Savvy Deeds, Sprintsy Deeds, Yafush Deeds, and/or Platini Deeds, each of which reduce the depletion rate by 25%. In Torna ~ The Golden Country, the Fragrantine and Perpetual Music Box have the same effect.

Combining the above items results in them stacking multiplicatively.

Party Gauge lock[edit]

Certain enemies have passive skills (possibly only when Enraged) which lock out a block of the party gauge, preventing its value from rising over 200 (or over 100 or 0, if multiple blocks are locked at once). This is represented by a chain appearing on the relevant block. The effect lasts for as long as the enemy is in combat.

Situations without a Party Gauge[edit]

During a Chain Attack, the Party Gauge is replaced with a Burst Meter. This fills as element orbs are shattered in the Chain Attack, and when it is full a Full Burst is performed.

In the fight against Malos (Tornan Titan Interior) (part 2), the Party Gauge is replaced with a Siren Gauge, which fills similarly. When it is full, pressing + allows Mythra's Siren to attack Malos's. After four such attacks are carried out by either Siren, the ordinary Party Gauge returns.
