Origin is Disc 8, Track 2 on the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Original Soundtrack and Disc 19, Track 2 on the Xenoblade Chronicles Original Soundtrack Trinity Box. The piece uses motifs from Moebius: Moebius 3 from 0:18 and 3:24, Moebius 1 at 1:26 and 4:32, and Moebius 4 at 2:22 and 5:28. The melody at 2:00 and 5:07 also appears in Ferronis and Origin Ascending.

The track on the soundtrack is split into two sections, each of which has the same structure but with different styles:

  • 0:00 to 3:07 is unofficially called Origin Event or Origin (Section A). It consists of electric guitar-and-piano instrumentation.
  • 3:07 to 6:59 is called Origin Depths (オリジン深層部) (according to the copyright data on JASRAC). It features orchestral instrumentation.

A version of Origin Event without the additional instrumentation is called Origin Upper Reaches (オリジン上層部) (according to the copyright data on JASRAC). This version was not included on any soundtrack.[1]

Origin Upper Reaches plays in Origin between the Force Field Generator Base (the entrance) and the Eternal Prison; Origin Depths plays between the South Sector Passage and the Amphitheater. The two tracks smoothly transition into the equivalent sections of one another when taking the South Sector Passage's elevator down and up.

Origin Event plays in the cutscene when the party considers the nature of the enemies within Origin.

Album notes[edit]

Album notes written by Yasunori Mitsuda. No official translation exists.
