The Nothung (ノートゥング) is a battleship depicted in Xenosaga: A Missing Year. It is owned by Scientia.
Description[edit]
The Nothung is a battleship often deployed by Scientia for covert missions in information warfare against the U.M.N. and Vector Industries. What it lacks in ballistics and weaponry, it makes up for in its efficiency in staying undetected. It is able to enter Hyperspace without the use of the U.M.N. and is considered virtually untraceable to other vessels.[1]
Story[edit]
A Missing Year[edit]
After Doctus kidnaps Almadel from the S.O.C.E.'s lab, Jin Uzuki and Shion Uzuki track them back to the Nothung, where Doctus and the Nothung's Captain explain details on Lemegeton and Vector Industries' connections with the Gnosis terrorism to them. Jin later returns to the Nothung piloting a prototype of E.S. Reuben to request Scientia's help in rescuing Shion and Almadel from Ars Nova.
Trivia[edit]
- Similarly to the Durandal, the Nothung is likely named after a mythological sword of the same name. It is a sword described in Norse mythology, wielded by Sigurd to slay the dragon Fafnir.
