The following is the script of dialogue used in Triton's ascension quest My Memories.

Aye... My friend and I used to go off huntin' a lot. I'm sure it was in, uh...

Taion

That phrasing is very telling.

Triton

He would keep this thingy on him that he used to treasure...
But blow me down if I can't remember what that thingy might be!

Mio

Well, is there anything else you can think of?

Triton

I only traveled with him for a short time, I did. Seems like I only have to blink and another human passes away.

Sena

You managed to remember this much about him. Otherwise we wouldn't be here!

Triton

I probably should have asked before, but what even made you remember something from that long ago?

Triton

Ah, well. It was while I watched our fair Nopon lady cookin' up a storm.
And it just popped into my head. I felt...dissatisfied, like somethin' was missin'.

Manana

Triton

Nay, nothin' like that, Miss. I love just about anythin' I eat.
Ah, that's stirred somethin'... Day after day, he'd peek inside his little pot thing.
Ahh...it's come back to me! We were broadsided by a Ropl, and my mate brought out his pot.
He murmured somethin' or other about "fermentation".

Lanz

Fermentation? What's up with that? Was it some science experiment or something?

Eunie

Queen's wings, what is in this pot?

A monster crawls up the path.

Eunie

Uh?! Isn't that a Ropl right now?!

Noah

On your guard, guys!

Triton

Well, stick me with spines and call me a Spike Urchon! That monster knew how to put up a fight!

Taion

A fight? That was awful! How the spark did you forget about that?!

Lanz

Triton

Well, I remembered one thing.

Eunie

See, there we go! Reminisce away, old timer!

Triton

Long ago, when there was no Colony Gamma here...
Back then... It was Colony Iota and Colony 18, who were at each others' throats.
'Course, in I blundered, with no clue at all, and I ended up with both of 'em tryin' to send me into the deep!

Eunie

Yeah, when I said reminisce, I meant about something relevant, yeah?

Triton

They had some guts, tryin' to off a Consul, that be sure. Back then, just about anybody tried to have a pop at ol' Triton!

Eunie

Right, I'm punching him. Noah, permission to punch!

Noah

H-hold on until after he's done.

Triton

While we were fleein' the colonies, we made a little meal of the monster we killed here.
Quite a good cook, was my mate.
Sorry, kiddies. Looks like there's nothin' here.

Lanz

Come on, we can't end it like this.

Triton

Well, I reckon... It might be round where Lambda is now.

Lanz

Then let's get over there! You might remember something else.

Sena

Was your friend a military cook? His cooking skills were pretty decent, right?

Triton

Nah, he just really loved to travel. But by the flames was he a hoot!

Taion

But didn't you insinuate Colony Lambda hasn't always been stationed here?

Triton

Aye, that's right. That place be great if you want a good solid defense, but woe betide ye if ye try launchin' an attack from it.
You had to fight like a trooper back in the day, so there was no point in havin' a stationary base.
If their commander's holed up inside, they're either very sure of themselves, or they're one ship short of a full fleet.
By the by, see that big hole opened up near the Ferronis?

Taion

Oh, that. Seems it's been there for some time.

Triton

I bashed that one open, with these here fists.

Mio

Huh? You did that?

Triton

Well, this is the kind of place my mate used to like to fish.
And if he couldn't fish, I couldn't eat. I'd just sit on my arse.
Well, I had time to kill, so I'd smash chunks out of the cliff face every day.
What man sees a wall and doesn't want to tear it down, I ask you?

Sena

I dunno what walls you've seen, buddy.

Taion

So, Triton? Does that remind you of anything?

Triton

Hmmmm...
He were such an easygoing fella... But I never once asked him where he came from, or how old he was.
Now I come to think of it, I didn't even know wherefore he was travelin'...

Mio

You didn't check him with your Iris?

Triton

I wonder... It was all so long ago, I don't remember...
Ahh, but! I know that when he and I arrived here it was quite a balmy day.
He peeked inside his pot, said that all the heat wouldn't do, then spoke about how he wanted to wait out the season...

Noah

What could that mean?

Triton

That's the thing about livin' as long as I have. I know it's important, but I just plum forgot, and it ain't comin' back...

Lanz

Mate...

Triton

My memory's not what it used to be, but I do recall Rhoguls used to hang out here.
We were once surrounded by them, I faintly recall. That was a hard battle, indeed.

Taion

Do you mean...like those things?

Lanz

Argh! This just keeps happening!

Triton

Hah! What be life without a bit of excitement? We can vent by beatin' the tar out of 'em!

Lanz

He must have been, to travel with you. Maybe one of those monsters bashed a screw loose.

Triton

This has been nothin' but trouble for ye kids... If nothin' turns up here, let's just call it quits, eh?

Triton

It ain't the searchin' that's the problem, I can do that whenever. I've got a bit more time than ye all have...

It might be my lot in life, to outlive everyone else... But he lives in my memories, and in my heart.
Ain't no way I'd throw away what he's left me.
'Course, I forgot all about him until now, so I'm talkin' complete bilge.

Lanz

You what? You were totally against all this.

Taion

I just hate leaving a job half-done.
Honestly, I couldn't care less about what he's searching for...
...and I don't mind if we never find it. But I just need to know...either way.

Triton

I'm much the same. Right then, let's give it one more shot!

Noah

Don't tell us you want to keep it secret, after all we've been through.

Triton

Ah, well you see...
(sniff)... Hm. Hmm...

Lanz

It miso paste!

Noah

Manana

That correct! Can add miso to meat, fishies, all sorts of vegetable... Is all-purpose flavoring!

In a flashback, Triton and his friend face the Ekidno.

Triton is knocked over. The pot of miso falls.

Triton

Whoa!

End of flashback.

Triton

I remember now...
He and I...we journeyed to gather ingredients that would match this stuff.
But...when we finally arrived here...
That blasted monster went and ate him.
And he...he entrusted this to me...

How could I ever have forgotten something that damn-well important!

Eunie sighs.

Triton

I get it... When I saw the Nopon lady cookin' and thought somethin' was missin' from the food...
That thing, it was miso.

Lanz

Triton

To think that...all these years and decades, my heart's been captive to a simple bean paste.
Doesn't that sound stupid? Eh?

Sena
