Monado Armour (モナドアーマー, Monado Armour), often shortened to just Armour (アーマー, Armour), is one of Shulk's Monado Arts in Xenoblade Chronicles and Future Connected. It involves Shulk using the Monado to create a barrier of ether energy that surrounds him and his allies, reducing both physical and ether damage from enemy attacks. However, it does not work against enemy Talent Arts.

The character used in the Art is 鎧 (がい), which means "armour" in both Japanese and Chinese.

Overview

Monado Armour is one of the best support Arts in the game, although it starts out somewhat underwhelming. Spending Shulk's entire talent gauge to only reduce the damage taken by 30% isn't usually as appealing as another Monado Art, but once Armour is leveled up a few times it becomes much more attractive—up to 75% damage reduction at its max level for 15 seconds makes it the most efficient way of dealing with many visions, especially of ether attacks or area-of-effect physical attacks, and it also is just good for improving the party's survivability at any time. Its only real drawbacks are that the player will need to spend a good amount of AP for it to reach its true potential and that using it means Shulk is not using a Monado Art that deals damage or helps out in some other specific way. Even the drawback of using 100% of the Talent Gauge, which is a major consideration for Monado Buster, is less of a factor for Armour since the damage reduction makes it easier to safely refill the Talent Gauge before anything bad happens.
