- This article is about the Monado's in-game technical properties. For information on the Monado in general, see Monado.
The Monado is the weapon used by Shulk for much of Xenoblade Chronicles.
The Monado is obtained after a cutscene during the Battle of Colony 9. It replaces the Junk Sword and cannot be unequipped, replacing Shulk's Turn Strike with Activate Monado.
Just like normal weapons deal 1 damage to Mechon and bounce off unless the Mechon is toppled, the Monado cannot hurt people, and does the same if used against them. However, the Monado cannot hurt people when they are toppled either - unless it is via an ether attack rather than a physical attack. Due to a combination of gameplay and story reasons, this means Monado Purge is the only such art this can happen with.
Similarly, the Monado cannot hurt Face Mechon unless they are toppled. Face Mechon do not count as Mechon for the effects of arts such as Monado Enchant and Monado Buster, even if toppled.
