Melancholia (called Melancholia<VER.X> in the JASRAC database) is Disc 3, Track 6 on the XenobladeX Original Soundtrack.
It plays on the Squad Selection screen in the Wii U version, as well as in the following cutscenes:
- Irina and the party reflect on them having rescued the BLADEs that had taunted Irina earlier at the end of Renewed Will.
- The party comes up with the idea to escape Mira's universe at the end of Chapter 13 (Act 1).
- Al confirms his heroic philosophy in contrast with Void's at the end of Chapter 13 (Act 2).
- Al tells Cross what it takes to pilot the Ares Prime at the end of A Hero's Trial.
- Vandham briefs the raiding and escort parties into Volitaris during Chapter 13 (Act 3).
- Kiefer and Leland Cole clear up their relation at the end of Fathers and Sons.
- H.B. and the party find Solan at the end of A New Rival?.
- Vandham suggests that the party take out the Sailing Grex during A Day in the Life.
- Liesel flies with the Hraesvelg in cruise mode at the end of Thinking Makes It So.
The track was originally a song on Sawano's musica album, released in 2009. The version for Xenoblade Chronicles X is a remastered version of the same song.
In other games[edit]
In Tetris 99, if the player uses the Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition themed skin, Melancholia plays as the results music after the player is defeated in a match.

An alternate mix of Melancholia, also called Melancholia, is Track 11 on Hiroyuki Sawano's album musica. It was released on the 15th of July 2009, before Xenoblade Chronicles X began development, making it one of very few tracks in the series known to not have originally been composed for the game it appears in. Melancholia as it appears in Xenoblade Chronicles X is a version of this track with the balance between instruments changed (e.g. with a less prominent drum line).

The official lyrics for both the XenobladeX Soundtrack and musica don't list Whitaker's lyrics. The musica lyrics also lack the comma in "You cheer me, reminds me".
