Mary Godwin (メリィ・ゴドウィン) is a character in the Xenosaga series. She is an aide to Gaignun and also assists Jr.. She is the younger sister of Shelley Godwin.

Appearance and personality[edit]

Mary is a woman with blond hair tied in four locks and blue eyes. In Episode I, her attire consists of a blue and white long sleeved top that exposes her cleavage and leaves her back bare, brown shorts with yellow accents, dark stockings, blue boots and a blue cap. In Episode II and Episode III, she wears a a blue medium sleeved top with white accents, white shorts which are attached to her top, black stockings, white boots with blue accents, her cap is blue with white accents.

Mary has a permanent upbeat and cheerful personality.

Story arc[edit]

History[edit]

Mary was born on Miltia, but speaks with an unknown planetary accent. She and her older sister Shelley were once owned by a pharmaceutical company and used as a guinea pig along with other people and were often heavily drugged. She was rescued along with her older sister by Gaignun Kukai and provided them a home on the Kukai Foundation. Soon after, the sisters adopted the Godwin surname at that time.

Episode I[edit]

Mary acts as an aide to Gaignun Kukai, the chairman of the Kukai Foundation. She is also a close associate with Junior. She is the Chief of the Kukai Foundation's Strategy division and commands the Durandal along with her older sister, Shelley. She first appears in the game when Junior is investigating a defeated U-TIC Battleship, coming out with him on her own personal A.G.W.S. Throughout the rest of the game she provides support to Junior and the others. When the U-TIC Organization frames the Kukai Foundation for the destruction of the Woglinde, she, alongside her sister were arrested by the Federation. However the officer in charge, Lapis Roman, is an agent of Helmer's and arranges for Gaignun to be able to speak with him. She, along with her sister is eventually freed once Shion and the others are able to find evidence of their innocence within KOS-MOS' Encephalon.

Episode II[edit]

Mary accompanies Gaignun and Shelley when they visit Helmer at the Second Miltia government offices. At the U.M.N. Control Center, she helps with the analysis of MOMO's Y-Data. Near the end of the game, she comforts MOMO when she's worried about Junior, who has headed into the Space Time Anomaly to face Albedo.

She supports Jr. and Gaignun, and commands the Durandal along with her older sister Shelly.

Although she was born in Miltia, she speaks with an unknown planetary accent. She is the life of the party within the Foundation.

Her full name is Mary Godwin. She adopted that surname after being rescued by the Foundation.

Chief of the Kukai Foundation's First Strategy Divison.

A mutant created through Life Recycling. Chief of the Kukai Foundation's First Strategy Division. Together with Shelly, she assists Jr. and Gaignun and supports the Foundation.

Originally an illegal test subject at a pharmaceutical company, she now resides on the Kukai Foundation after being taken in by Jr. and the others. She speaks with what seems like a strange accent from the outer planets and strives to be the galaxy's top comedian--supposedly.

Bright and energetic, she keeps the crew and 100-Series aboard the Durandal in top spirits. She is able to communicate telepathically with Shelly via interlink.
