Luck (XC2)

This article is about the stat in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. For the stat in Xenosaga Episode III, see Luck (XS3).

Luck is a stat in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Torna ~ The Golden Country. It affects the likelihood a character will successfully land or resist a debuff or reaction, and affects the chance of pulling rare Blades and dropping rare items. It is generally a property of Drivers and enemies.

Party member luck can be increased by levelling up, equipping accessories that increase luck, using Blades that passively increase luck, or unlocking Driver Skills that increase luck.

Debuff and reaction resistance[edit]

When a character uses an attack which inflicts a debuff or reaction, and assuming the target is not immune, the debuff or reaction has a chance of being resisted. This is affected by the luck of the characters in question. In absence of other modifiers:

debuffChance = (1 - targetResistance) + sqrt(sourceLuck) - sqrt(targetLuck)

where targetResistance is the base resistance of the target to the debuff/reaction (most relevant in the case of enemy break resistance), sourceLuck is the luck of the attacker, and targetLuck is the luck of the target.

As the resistance modifiers scale with the square root of luck, flat increases to luck give diminishing returns. Multiplicative increases to luck do not, but the square root still results in a weak effect; doubling luck only results in 1.4 times the effect.

Rare Blade chance[edit]

If a Driver has higher luck, they have a greater chance of pulling a rare Blade from a Core Crystal. In absence of other modifiers:

rareRate = baseRate * ((sqrt(luck) / 100 * 1.3) + 0.95)

Again, this scales with the square root of luck; the maximum luck of 999 results in approximately a 1.36x chance of pulling a rare Blade. See Core Crystal#Complete formula for details.

Item drop rate[edit]

The drop rate of items is affected by the party's luck. Specifically, it is multiplied by the following value, where partyLuck is the sum of the luck stats of all active party members:

itemDropRate *= max(0.02 * sqrt(partyLuck) + 0.85, 1)

As a result, there is no effect when the total is 56 or less, while at the max of 2997 (all three party members have 999 luck) the multiplier is about 1.94.

Luck values[edit]

Each character's luck increases by the same amount (ignoring rounding effects) each level up.
