Landmark (XC3)

Landmarks are special points in the world of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Future Redeemed. They are localised points on the map which serve as skip travel points, and often correspond to some point of interest in the overworld. They are discovered by approaching them. Upon first discovering a landmark, the jingle Landmark Discovered plays.
Discovered landmarks appear on the menu maps with a lighthouse-like symbol. The discovered landmarks on a menu map can be searched through by pressing +.
Discovering all landmarks in a region is one of the requirements for the menu map to be completely filled in, alongside discovering all locations and Secret Areas. In Future Redeemed, discovering landmarks is an Affinity Goal, and finding all landmarks in a region awards the party Affinity Points.
Rest Spots function as a special kind of landmark with their own symbol on the map.
Secret Areas[edit]
Secret Areas are broadly functionally identical to landmarks, being skip travel points that are discovered by approaching them, and an Affinity Goal in Future Redeemed. There are several minor differences:
- They are generally more out-of-the-way than landmarks.
- Their icon uses a hill symbol, rather than a lighthouse symbol.
- They are listed separately on the menu map.
- They (usually) use a dedicated area theme, Mysterious Land.
