Kenji Hiramatsu is a Japanese sound programmer and composer of video game and anime music.
Biography[edit]
Hiramatsu was born on the 11th of February in Ibaraki, Osaka, Japan.[1] He grew up playing video games and experimenting with electronic music, and enjoyed transcribing scores from magazines into electronic format on a personal computer as a child.[2] He got into music seriously when he formed a band during high school. Before composing for Xenoblade he performed as a keyboardist for several artists.[3] He has also worked on writing music for commercials and anime.
CHiCO has described Hiramatsu as a "die-hard Nintendo fan" and a "hardcore gamer".[2] He approaches soundtrack-writing from both an auditory perspective and from finding and adapting his pieces to subtle details in a game's story, based upon his experience with video games.
In ACE+[edit]
- Main article: ACE+
For the music of Xenoblade Chronicles, Hiramatsu worked closely with the duo ACE during the composition process, forming a trio known as ACE+. All tracks composed by any of the three are credited in the game's track listing under the name 'ACE+'.
Relevance to the Xeno series[edit]
Hiramatsu has composed music for the numbered Xenoblade games; many of his compositions are among the most popular tracks in the series. He primarily composes battle music and energetic, driving cutscene music, although he has also composed area music and several of the more subdued pieces in some games.

- ↑ All of Hiramatsu's contributions were under the name ACE+; this list contains contributions later credited specifically to Hiramatsu.[4]
- ↑ Tracks credited to ACE+ which were not later credited to Hiramatsu.[4] Hiramatsu and ACE worked together during the music-making process, although the extent of this is unknown.
- ↑ Co-credited alongside Yasunori Mitsuda, possibly because the track uses a melody from Mitsuda's Off-Seer - Mio.
