Interlink
- This article is about the ability in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. For the device in Xenosaga, see Interlink (XS).
Interlinking is an ability in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. It allows two Ouroboros or Moebius from opposite nations to fuse together to form a stronger single entity.
Description[edit]
Interlinking has different mechanics depending upon whether the Interlinking pair are Ouroboros or Moebius. In the former case, an Interlink is required for the pair to take their Ouroboros forms, and each form is strongly associated with one of the Interlinking pair. On the other hand, Moebius may take their Moebius form without an Interlink; instead, the Interlink combines the two Moebius forms into one seemingly associated with both members of the pair.
In either case, both a Kevesi and Agnian must be present in an Interlinking pair. In the case of Ouroboros, each member has a specific Interlinking partner, and they seemingly cannot form an Interlink with other Ouroboros of the opposite nation. It is unclear whether the same applies to Moebius, or if they may freely Interlink with any Moebius of the opposite nation.
During an Interlink, each member of the pair seemingly appears in a swirling yellow-hued space in which the memories of the Interlink partner can be seen and heard.
If an Interlink is maintained for too long, the Interlink form begins to overheat; it visibly becomes red-hot, accompanied by a persistent alarm-like beeping. Continuing to maintain the Interlink results in an annihilation event centred on the form.
Story[edit]
The first Interlink to be seen is near the end of Chapter 1. Guernica Vandham, despite being mortally wounded by D, unleashed the power of the Ouroboros Stone, transforming the party into Ouroboros and allowing Noah and Mio to Interlink for the first time to defeat D. After D's departure they cancelled the Interlink.
The next Interlink is seen near the end of Chapter 2 during the fight with K. Lanz and Sena Interlink for the first time to protect Noah and Mio from K's attacks, followed Eunie and Taion Interlinking to heal the rest of the party. The three Interlinked pairs then proceed to defeat K.
Future Redeemed[edit]
As the power of Ouroboros is not yet fully understood in Future Redeemed, Interlinking is not seen for the most part. Moebius W is shown able to fuse two Ferronises together and also connect himself to them, though whether this is an actual Interlink or some other ability is unclear.
The first true Interlink is seen at the end of the game. By striking N's sword with his gauntlets, Matthew is able to trigger a six-person Interlink with himself, Na'el, Nikol, Glimmer, Shulk, and Rex, all forming into a single giant proto-Ouroboros with the same appearance as Matthew's aura. This Interlink is used to deal the final blow to Alpha.
As a gameplay element[edit]

The second phase of the first battle against D and J has Noah and Mio remain in an Interlink for the entire phase.
Interlinking becomes generally available in battle during the battle with Consul K; initially only Noah can Interlink with Mio. After defeating Consul K (before the battle with Moebius K), Eunie and Lanz gain the ability to Interlink with Taion and Sena respectively as well. After defeating the Lambda Ferronis, the three Interlinks each gain another form associated with the Agnian in the pair; from this point, they may also be used in Chain Attacks.
Moebius Interlinks, when they occur in gameplay, are treated as entirely separate fights; Moebius enemies do not enter and leave an Interlink mid-battle like the playable Ouroboros.
