Ino (イノ), also known as Artifical Blade Ino is a Hero in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. She is part of the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Expansion Pass. Ino is an Artificial Blade created by Oosoo.

Appearance and personality

Ino is a mechanical woman with short green hair and green eyes with red highlights. She has a red and black mechanical body, with an orange Artificial Blade Core Crystal embedded in her chest. On her back are two large metal structures that resemble the decorations on Pyra's back. She wears a red headband with two chains hanging off the back, resembling a pair of pigtails. In combat, Ino wields a pair of black and red curved swords known as Inosabers.

Being built by a Nopon and spending most of her time around Nopon, Ino carries their speech patterns, speaking in the same childish, third-person dialect as the others do. Ino even expresses uncertainty around human language, such as questioning what the human word for "Heropon" is. When excited, Ino often talks about feeling like she'll break down due to emotional overload, or expresses a desire to break into dance.

As "Champion of the Nopon", her primary mission in life is to protect the Nopon Caravans, a task she sees as more important than anything else. After Noah first switches to her class, Ino decides this makes him her Driver and becomes closely attached to him, referring to him as "Masterpon".

Story arc

Champion of the Nopon

The party first encounter Ino at Namba Mound, where they find her defending a group of Nopon against a group of Dannagh Arachnos. However, due to a lack of fuel, Ino's combat performance has degraded, and she struggles against the monsters. The party come to her aid while the Nopon retreat to Namba Mound Camp, and the seven of them dispatch the monsters together.

After a moment of gushing over the party's combat capabilities and bravery, Ino remembers the task at hand: refueling herself. The party agree to help, escorting her to the nearest Ether Sphere to harvest its high ether. After dispatching the monsters that surround it, Eunie tries to fill a standard Ether Cylinder, but Ino warns her at the last moment that a standard cylinder will explode if filled with high ether. Instead, she uses her HD Ether Cylinder+ to harvest it, then shocks the party by drinking the ether to refuel herself.

Noah then realizes that her class has been unlocked for him to switch into. He transforms into a Noponic Champion to test it out. At the sight of him wielding her weapons, Ino excitedly declares Noah her "destined Driver" and her "Masterpon". This confuses the party, who have never heard of Drivers before, and are unfamiliar with the concept of a Blade, believing that she refers to the weapons they wield.

Ino joins the party as a Hero, though is disappointed to learn that they have more important objectives than simply rescuing Nopon in need.

• Ino is the only Hero to be part of the Nopon Caravans.
• Ino, Masha, Rex, and Shulk are the only Heroes who will not assist the party in the final battle against Z, as they are all part of the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Expansion Pass.
• Ino has a similar name to her English voice actress, Ina Marie Smith.
