The Hyams Group, officially known as Hyams Heavy Industries, is a company in the Xenosaga series. It is the primary business arm of Ormus, and serves to fund most of the organization's operations under the guise of a plethora of "dummy corporations". Its influence across the Galaxy Federation is rivaled only by Vector Industries.

Story[edit]

History[edit]

Before the Cerebral Sciences Research Center was converted into the U-TIC Organization, it was funded in most part by Vector Industries. However, as the organization began its conversion, nearly all of the Federation government officials and researchers that were stationed there were expelled and replaced with members of Ormus and the Old Miltian Hierocracy. At the same time, the U-TIC Organization also began to receive development and funding from a comparatively more Immigrant Fleet-aligned business than Vector. This business was Hyams.

Episode II[edit]

During the Miltian Conflict, one of the remaining Federation officials at U-TIC, Suou Uzuki passed on a data disk that contained valuable intelligence on the inner workings of Ormus to his son, Jin. However, as this data had to be stored within the memory of a Realian named Canaan for safekeeping, it could not be deciphered until he and Jin return to Miltia 14 years later. When this disk is finally deciphered, they discover that a multitude of dummy corporations had been used as a cover for Hyams' funding of Ormus' illegal operations, and that the CEO of Hyams, Heinlein, also holds a seat as a cardinal of the Immigrant Fleet.

Episode III[edit]

Following the events of Xenosaga: A Missing Year, Jin's sister Shion decides to join the anti-U.M.N. organization Scientia to investigate her father's involvement in U-TIC. When she's invited to observe the Zohar Project's T-weapon demonstration on Fifth Jerusalem, she secretly records it and asks her colleague Doctus to analyze the footage and investigate the T-weapon. Doctus finds that it was not Vector who developed the T-weapon, but Hyams, and that they were being secretive about the transport of the said product. Later, when Shion, Jin, and co. are investigating the Labyrinthos of the past, they discover that U-TIC was storing E.S. units developed by Vector in the facility. Jin deduces that this could be a sign of backdoor weapons deals between Wilhelm of Vector and Heinlein of Hyams. It is later revealed that Wilhelm and Heinlein are, in fact, the same person, and that Wilhelm was using his status as cardinal and the Hyams Group as tools to control the Immigrant Fleet and Ormus' inner workings.
