Hirohide Sugiura is a Japanese game producer. He is the current president of Monolith Soft and acts as the Executive Producer for all the games in the Xeno- series developed by Monolith Soft. Sugiura owned 30 stocks from the company (1,25%) until December 11th, 2025, when Nintendo bought the 100% of the company.

Biography[edit]

Sugiura graduated from the Musashino Academia Musicae and wanted to become a teacher, however, he thought that didn't suit him and decided to work for a regular business company instead. He started working for ASCII Corporation in game sales and the advertising sales department of the magazine Weekly Famitsu. After that, he worked in publicity at Konami and as project manager at Warp.[source required]

When he joined Square in the 1990s, he produced the game Ehrgeiz: God Bless the Ring in 1998. However, his focus of attention was on Xenogears. Deeply captivated by the game, he approached the development team with the idea of creating a sequel, but Square rejected this.[source required] As a result, Sugiura, together with Tetsuya Takahashi and Yasuyuki Honne, decided to leave Square and founded Monolith Soft in 1999. He subsequently became the company's president and representative director.
