Gwin Evans (グイン) is a playable character in Xenoblade Chronicles X. He is an Interceptor and Irina's subordinate whose goal is to get strong enough to keep everybody safe.

Gwin is a man with blue eyes and messy dusty-brown hair which falls over his forehead on the right. His default outfit is a green Sakuraba Lightwear.
Character Bio[edit]
An honest man with an unshakable sense of justice—if not the sharpest tool in the shed. Gwin admires his commanding officer Irina and yearns to protect her, though a lack of ability has prevented him from fully realizing this noble goal.
Battle Style[edit]
Gwin uses a standard Samurai Gunner style to fearlessly charge into the fray—often leaving his comrades to clean up the aftermath.
Story arc[edit]
Gwin is initially introduced alongside Irina at the start of Chapter 1 as one of Elma's former subordinates and as a more recent recruit.
Nine Lives[edit]
During Nine Lives, Gwin helps Mathias, his junior, find his missing cat, Aisha. When he and Elma's team find a clue, Gwin relays it to him, and Mathias runs ahead of the group. When they get to the Cliffside Beach, he finds Mathias up against a Shallows Grex and fights it before chastising Mathias for charging in as a noncombatant.
Chapter 5[edit]
In Chapter 5, Gwin and Irina come to the BLADE Barracks to eat some of Lin's food and offer a job from Vandham: to go and confirm the sighting of an unidentified ally being bombarded by the Ganglion.
Chapter 7[edit]
During Chapter 7, Gwin and Irina end up calling for reinforcements during their mission to reclaim a piece of the Lifehold in Oblivia. Elma's team arrives just before either of them decide to sacrifice themselves to take out the Ganglion, and they cut an opening for Gwin and Irina to reach the Lifehold.

Chapter 12[edit]
During Chapter 12, Gwin and Irina are seen watching Chausson's televised announcement of the Lifehold Core's discovery at the Commercial District. Him, Irina, and L arrive to the BLADE Barracks for one final feast that Lin prepared, with Doug arriving shortly afterwards. After Vandham sends the coordinates west of Cauldros, Gwin flies overseas to the Lifehold Core alongside the breach team in their skells: which includes Cross, Elma, Lin, Doug, and Irina. Inside the Lifehold, he questions what happened to all the other humans who were left inside the core before Luxaar's arrival. When Elma reveals that their original human bodies were destroyed with the Earth, Gwin is the first to ask if it meant they were already dead. He also name drops "Noah's Ark" in reference to Elma describing the White Whale as an ark, and questions what "Hom Hom" are after Tatsu suddenly blurts this out, which only leaves everyone more confused. Once Lao dies, Gwin expresses relief that the Core was saved, but is worried that Lao might not even want to be resurrected anyways. He's initially surprised by Elma being a Xeno, but later accepts this out of excitement, forgetting the fact that she was supposed to reveal something important about herself.
In the final cutscene before the original credits, Gwin and Irina can be seen eating together in the Commercial District, with Murderess passing her bill over to Irina right as she passed her bill to Gwin. This is likely a reference to the end of Serial Thriller where Cross can choose to pay for both of their drinks as a treat, with Gwin now being forced to do the same.
Lore[edit]
- Gwin's achievements all describe him as "the farmboy", although this background isn't mentioned anywhere else.
