Goetia (ゲーティア) is an antagonist in Xenoblade Chronicles X and one of the Ganglion Commanders. She pilots the Skell Almandal.
Appearance and personality[edit]
Goetia has silver-colored skin, and while she appears to have no hair, her head and the tentacles on it are covered in ridges made to resemble hair. Her choice of outfit is a black high-legged bodysuit with blue accents which are attached to her boots. Her eyes are blue and her lips are purple. The three tentacles from her head move in a flowing pattern constantly.
Goetia appears to be an important commander in the Ganglion, as all of her subordinates refer to her as "mistress". She believes humanity is a cancer, primitive but dangerous, and she works to purge humanity from the universe. She gains satisfaction when people and their artifacts are destroyed.
Description[edit]
"A lead member of the Ganglion who lives for violent combat. Her tentacles contain special electrical organs that allow her to discharge staggering high-voltage blasts."
Story arc[edit]
During Chapter 4, Goetia and her troops found a piece of the Lifehold, making it so that L could no longer access it. When he returns with Elma's team, they've already destroyed it with gunfire. When a few of the Prone Destroyers are defeated, they retreat to get Goetia to help them fight.
While she is defeated, she vows that humanity will be cleansed sooner or later. Before she can be questioned, a Qmoeva pilot extracts her. From the discovery of that Skell, Elma confirms with BLADE command that the Ganglion were one of the factions in the war that destroyed Earth.
In Chapter 6, Goetia talks to Luxaar about the space around Mira, stating that it's only 800 exedits in diameter and that the Ganglion are in fact stuck on Mira with the humans. That being said, she does not understand why Luxaar is attempting to get the alien mech that would lead to the Great One.
She is finally fought in her Skell, the Almandal, during Chapter 7. She fires a shot to destroy another major piece of the Lifehold, before claiming that doing so is satisfying, as it'll remove humanity from the universe. During the fight, she reveals that the Ganglion know about humanity's mimeosomes, and that they intend to destroy the Lifehold Core. Elma decides to kill her and stop her from causing any more pain to the universe.
As the Almandal is defeated in battle, she asks herself if she was wrong.[1] She is never seen after the Almandal is destroyed, presumably indicating that she is destroyed with it.

Goetia is fought alongside a Marnuck Rook with a beam shotgun and a Marnuck Rook with a homing beam gun.
Later during Chapter 7, she is fought in the Almandal.

Trivia[edit]
- The name of origin for both Goetia and the Almandal come from the Lemegeton Clavicula Salomonis, a collection of grimoire, hence the coincidence of Xenosaga: A Missing Year having characters with the same name.
